Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation

Description: Solutions is seeking an individual to fill an Early Childhood Mental Health Prevention Specialist. The candidate would have knowledge of early child development and would work closely with Head Start using knowledge of the social emotional curriculum to do classroom observations and provide individual plans for children and feedback to teachers. Referrals for individual and family therapy provided to families as needed. In addition, the specialist will promote positive parenting techniques through education of parents and caregivers and consultation with professionals.

This position facilitates educational and preventive programs within schools and community by creating programs focusing on mental health issues, parenting skills, self-esteem, decision making, communication and other related topics.

This position provides consultation to Head Start staff along with other childcare facilities within the county; supports local companies, community agencies and schools by tailoring programs and policies to meet specialized needs. 

Raises awareness, maintains public relations and provides services to community and individual citizens by attending meetings, answering questions and participating in fundraisers and other events.  Staffs booth around prevention activities in the community.  Seeks out ways to promote the agency in the community at prevention fairs. 

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing periodicals, attending workshops and seminars and participating in committee groups. 

Position Status: Full Time

Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or early childhood education. This position requires the Early Childhood Mental Heath credential (provided on the job). LSW, LISW, PC, PCC, or degree in early childhood education with related experience preferred.

Prevention Specialist

Description: Solutions is seeking an individual to fill a Prevention Specialist position.  This position promotes individual wellness integrating physical, mental, and social health, and  encourages a healthy drug-free lifestyle with good self-care.  The Prevention Specialist also promotes healthy and safe communities by working collaboratively with agencies, businesses, schools, and other community groups.

This position requires knowledge of substance abuse, chemical dependency and mental health issues, as well as excellent personal and communication skills.  The individual should be able to work with children and adults in a variety of settings. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

Facilitating education and evidence-based prevention programs in schools and community setting

Providing targeted education and intervention for indicated consumers referred to the Chemical Awareness Program (adults) and Early Intervention Program (adolescents) and documenting services provided

 Maintaining strong relationships and good communication with stakeholders

 Raising awareness of behavioral health issues and promoting change in the community by participating in coalitions and other community collaborations

Promoting the agency and its services at community events

Position Status: Full Time

Position Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, or addiction studies. The position requires Prevention Specialist Certification (OCPS I OCPSA or Registered Candidate). LCDC-A, LCDC-II, LCDC-III LICDC, LSW, LISW, PC, or PCC with related experience preferred.

Location: Warren and/or Clinton County.
